Cook Time

Yield

4 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef (80/20 blend recommended)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 slices Borden Extra Sharp Cheddar Melts
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 4 Tbsp. mayonnaise
  • 8 pickle slices
  • 4 slices tomato
  • 4 lettuce leaves
  • 1 small red onion, thinly sliced

Optional
  • Ketchup, mustard, other condiments

Directions

  1. Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions and gently shape them into patties about 3/4-inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent them from puffing up during cooking.
  2. Season both sides of each patty with salt and pepper.
  3. Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. If using a skillet, add a little oil to prevent sticking.
  4. Cook the patties for about 4 to 5 minutes per side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness. During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of Borden Extra Sharp Cheddar Melt on each patty and cover with a lid to melt the cheese.
  5. While the patties are cooking, toast the hamburger buns on the grill or in a toaster until lightly golden brown.
  6. Spread 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise on the bottom half of each toasted bun. Place 2 pickle slices on top of the mayonnaise. Add a few slices of red onion on top of the pickles. Place the cooked patty with melted cheese on top of the onions. Add a slice of tomato and a leaf of lettuce on top of the cheese. Cover with the top half of the bun.
  7. Serve the burgers immediately with your favorite sides and condiments.
  8. Enjoy your delicious cheeseburger with Borden Extra Sharp Cheddar Melts!
